In January 2014, Daniela Radulescu (National Institute for Hydrology and Water Management) and Agnes Maenhout (World Water Academy) signed an agreement in order to strengthen relations and come up with common projects on capacity development, see our Press-release: Lifelong learning on flood risk management in Romania. Now, after two years, both partners agreed to extend the co-operation.
As point on the common agenda, the capacity development was evaluated during last bilateral panel between the Dutch and Romanian water sector in The Hague, March 2016. This bilateral panel is organised yearly, and based on the MoU between Apele Romane and the Dutch Water Authorities, supported by the Netherlands Water Partnership and Deltares. NIHWM is part of Apele Romane.
Recently, NIHWM established a technical school to institutionalise capacity development in the organisation, using the philosophy of WWA. Some ideas and plans have been set up to become concrete projects, together with Dutch and Romanian partners. In the coming weeks, the agreement will be updated with the Romanian and Dutch partners.
