The second training block of the Master Class Young Water professionals started on the 18th of May in Jakarta. The participants (all employees of DG Water Resources and DG Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Public Works & People's Housing) started with the Master Class in October last year. After the first training Block and the Internship it was now time for the second training Block!
Ms. Marlina, representing the Ministry of Public Works & People's Housing, emphasized in her opening remarks, the importance of the participants in being serious and active during the training. She stated that the training is a rare opportunity provided to selected staff of the ministry, hence, making optimum use of it was a must. Mr. Simon Warmerdam represented the Dutch donor and Mr. Bart van Halteren represented the Dutch consortium partners. Mrs Ingrid Hilwerda of the World Water Academy was the trainer of the second training block.
The first week was dedicated to Project Management and the Project cycle. The second week the focus was on Leadership, Self-empowerment and Change management. The programme was filled with assignments that required an active approach of the participants. They could immediately start practicing the new learned knowledge.
The participants took every session very seriously and contributed actively to the plenary discussion as well as group work. The use of the digital learning platform was new in this training block. The participants read in this platform the preparation assignments and got access to all the training materials and extra materials related to the training topics, like shortfilms, documents and photo's.
The participants were very happy with all the new things they learned. The last part of the Master Class is a second internship where they can apply the learned knowledge.
The trainer Ingrid Hilwerda: "Again it was inspiring to be in Jakarta. But most of all it was inspiring to meet the participants. They worked hard, were friendly and made me feel very welcome. I hope the internships and final papers go well, so the participants can be rewarded with a well-deserved certificate for the Master Class Young Water Professionals!"
